Back to school teams!

Hey, everyone! So yesterday was my first day of school and I thought, "Hey, what if I put different super-teams in my next blog and they all have to be in school!" Here's my top-five (in no specific order) list of super-kids!

1.Power Pack:

Seriously, how can you go wrong with this group? We've got two teenagers (Alex and Julie), a middle-schooler (Jack), and a little girl (Katie)! All with friggin' awesome powers and they act just like regular siblings!

2. X-Men:

X-Men technically count in this list because most of the team is in high-school. I almost had to put this team in here because, well, IT'S THE FREAKING X-MEN! Seriously, name one person you know that hates X-Men. Well, there may be a few...but that's not the point! The point is that they send out an important message:  Don't mess with someone just because they're different than you, because you never know if they are a mutant with awesome powers. I would name all of them, but there's to darn many!

3. Young Justice:

If you haven't read my review on this team, click here. Team of famous DC teens in one comic? Heck, yeah! Let's see. We have Arrowette (look familiar?), Empress, Slobo, Superboy, Robin (Tim Drake), Wonder Girl (Cassie), Impulse, and Secret. What do they have in common? Almost all of them were side-kicks to great super-heroes. Well, except for Secret...and maybe Slobo. I don't know, would you call Lobo a villian or just plain violent? Anyways, they're all awesome!

4. Teen Titans:

C'mon. It's the Teen Titans. They are a classic! You have Starfire, Raven, Wonder Girl (Donna), Cyborg, Beast Boy (Or is his name, "Changling" in this picture?), Robin (Dick Grayson), and Kid Flash. All of them are classic to teenage teams! Yeah, I know. I've talked about this before and the characters looked totally different, but that was the cartoon/cartoon based comic. This is the original Teen Titans that the show was based off of.

5.Young Avengers:

Okay, so you know who the Avengers are, right. Well imagine all of them, but as teenagers. If you did that, then you have the Young Avengers! Here we have Wiccan, Hulkling, Stature, Hawkeye (not the same one as the original team), Vision (does he count?), and Patriot.

That's all I have for today! Bye!

Silk Spectre

Hey everyone! So today I'm going to be talking about a comic called, "Before Watchmen: Silk Spectre."

So far, there have only been two comics, but I have to say that it's a pretty good comic. It's basically about the teenage years of the original Silk Spectre's daughter, Laurel Juspeczyk (how do you pronounce that last name?)...Anyways, Laurel is a teen and the Watchmen haven't been together, yet, so she is out in the world and fighting crime by herself. Here's the first cover for all of you:

I tend to be attracted by artwork, so when I saw this cover I thought, "Ooh, pretty and it's Watchmen!" so I picked it up and ended up loving it. I don't know why it got bad reviews, though. It's a really good comic and I suggest it to all Watchmen fans...or non-fans.

Well, I have to go now. Bye!

Hit-Girl's New Comic and I NEED HELP!!!

Hey, everyone! So as you can see, today I'm going to be talking about the new comic series called, "Hit-Girl." For those of you who don't know, Hit-Girl is the little purple-haired assassin girl in the movie/comic series called, "Kick-Ass." Basically what this comic is about is Hit-Girl's life without Big Daddy and now she is attending the same school as Kick-Ass, but she needs help fitting in.

I have to say that she is my favorite kid heroine ever. She just an awesome character! She lost her mother when she was born and was raised by her father who turned her into an assassin and she can kill anyone in sight! She's just so friggin awesome! Now I'm trying to get my little sister to cosplay her at the next Lady's Comic Book Night I go to.

Speaking of cosplays...I NEED HELP TRYING TO FIGURE OUT A COSPLAY FOR LADY'S NIGHT!!! I'm having a super-emergency on a cosplay idea and it has to be really simple because Lady's Night is this Friday. I think that I have some ideas, but I probably wouldn't get them done in time. I'm really desperate right now, so please vote on which costume I should make. And since the poll gadget keeps failing on me, I'll list the options right here and you can comment on which one I should choose:

1. Supergirl
2. X-23
3. Wonder Girl
Or if you have any other ideas, just tell me.

Well, that's all I have for today. Remember to comment, vote, and follow me! Bye for now!

TDKR Review

Hello, everyone who is reading this blog! So today I will be giving a movie review on "The Dark Knight Rises." I have to say, it was an okay movie. There were some moments that were just kind of "meh" to me, but otherwise, it wasn't that bad of a movie. Basically what it's about is what is going on eight years later from the movie "The Dark Knight." Bruce Wayne hasn't been Batman since his incident with Harvey Dent, also known as "Two-Face", and there is a new villain called "Bane" and Bruce has to defeat him before he destroys the city of Gotham.

I thought that Bane was going to be a huge disappointment, mainly because he was supposed to be a giant South American guy with venom tubes attached to his body, but he wasn't all that bad! They still got him to be a giant guy who was overly strong. Here's a comparison of Bane from the comics and from TDKR:

I've got to say, I'm not a big fan of the weird Semi-Darth-Vader-Mask. It kind of makes sense in the movie, but I just don't like it.

Now for Catwoman. When I first saw the previews, I saw Anne Hathaway as more of as a Selina Kyle than a Catwoman, if that makes any sense. Don't get me wrong! Anne Hathaway is a fantastic actress and I love her movies, but she just didn't look like a Catwoman type of person. Once I saw the movie, however, I thought that she totally got the character! She was sly, sneaky, agile, and just pure Catwoman! Here's a comparison of Catwoman from TDKR and the comics:

Anne Hathaway just made me more of a fan of her's because of this movie.

Well, that's all I have for now! Feel free to comment your review on this movie and follow me. I've got to go. Bye!

Really DC?

Hey, everybody! So I just heard the most outrageous thing on the internet. A couple of days ago on a website called Escher Girls, a woman went to Comic Con to show the editors of DC Comics some of her artwork. One of her drawings was my favorite character, Batwoman. Here's the drawing:

Looks good right? Well apparently DC Editors said that Batwoman looks "fat" in this picture.

You can read all about it at Escher Girls. Now for a few notes:

  1. Okay, her boobs are perfectly fine and she technically doesn't have any powers. She's a female Batman. You don't see the artists drawing him with a big...never mind.
  2. She's wearing a wig. Her hair looks fine and, once again, does not have any super powers.
  3. Her neck only looks long because she is wearing a turtleneck/cape.
  4. Sport's Illustrated?!? Really?!? Since when is eating only salad and dieting pills the "peak of human perfection?" I bet the women in that magazine are even photoshopped to look the way they are! There is no way in heck women actually look like that. Now I know where they got the ideas for characters like Starfire and Catwoman.
~Starfire

~Catwoman
~Amanda Waller (Before and After)

I think that's enough ranting for one day. See you all next week. Don't forget to comment, follow, or send me suggestions. Bye!

Battlepug

Hey, everyone! I'm back and just now realized that I'm way past the date that I was planning on blogging on. Crap! Oh, well. Hopefully you all haven't lost interest in this blog, yet. Anyways, as you can see I'm going to be talking about this comic that I discovered a couple of months ago called Battlepug.

Battlepug is an online comic (which you can now buy on the main website for Darkhorse) about a warrior who lost his family when he was a kid and now he is on a quest with a minivan-sized pug, a crazy hermit, and a foul-mouthed princess. This comic is hilarious and I wouldn't suggest it for children ages nine and under mainly because of a few things:

1. The princess has filthy mouth.

2. The woman telling the story is on her bed, naked. Nothing too revealing, only her butt.

3. Some panels can be very violent.

If you do trust your kids to read this, go ahead. My little sister, who is eight, reads it and she thinks that it's awesome, which I agree with. But this is defiantly a must read. If you haven't already read the comic, click on the link below.

Well, that's all I have for today! See you all next week! Please feel free to comment, follow, etc. Bye!

Off to Vacation!!!

Hi guys! So, unfortunately, I haven't hear anything lately and I haven't been to a comic shop in a while, so I don't have any news for you guys. Sorry. I'm also going to be in the mountains for the next couple of weeks, and there isn't any Wi-Fi up there so my next blog is going to be on July 9th. Once again, sorry for the wait. I'm going to miss you all!

New Teen Titans TV Show is Coming Out Soon!!!

Hey, everybody! Today, I have some BIG Titans news. A couple of days ago, Cartoon Network decided that (after many letters) they are going to be showing a brand new, half and hour long Teen Titans series (SQUEEEE!!!!). It's been forever since I've seen Teen Titans on cable and I am SUPER stoked about it! I've been trying to get my little sister to watch it with me on YouTube, but I don't think that she's as excited as I am.

Okay, back to the new series. According to another comic book blog I read, all of the voice actors/actresses are going to be playing the same characters as before. That includes Tara Strong as Raven, Greg Cipes as Beast Boy, Khary Payton as Cyborg, Hynden Walch as Starfire, and Scott Menville as Robin. The only thing that is different is the artwork. Here are the before and after characters:
~Before

~After

As you can see, the new artwork is very different than the original. I think that this new artwork looks more chibi as to the original artwork looked more....um....realistic. And the new Silky looks so cute! He looks like a mix between a larva and a chihuahua puppy. How that looks cute, I have no idea, but it does somehow.

Well, sorry for the really short post. This is probably the most exciting thing I've heard this week, so that's why I'm posting this.

So that's all I have for today. Feel free to tell me what you think about the new show. See you all later!

Young Justice (NOT the TV show) and Wolverine and the X-Men: Alpha & Omega

Hello, everyone who is reading this! So as you can see, I'm going to only be talking about two comic books today. The first one I'm going to talk about is Young Justice

On Saturday, my dad and I went to one of our local comic shops to use up some gift cards and while we were there, I was browsing through the back issues when I saw this:

The first thing I saw was the purple girl at the left of the words "THE FIFTY FT. WOMAN!" As soon as I saw her I thought, "Oh my gosh! It's Steph!" who is my favorite all-time DC girl! (see The Runaways, Batgirl featuring Squire, and Lady's Comic Night) So again, I naturally pick it up. This comic is about the Young Justice team going to this country filled with villains and they go stop them and the ruler of the country just happens to have the power to become the ground and become over 50 ft. tall. I really enjoyed this comic and hope to continue reading it.

Now for X-Men (yes!!!). This series is about a guy named Quentin Quire, who has telepathy, makes Wolverine and Armor black out and think that they are in a post apocalyptic world. I really liked reading this comic mainly because it was funny and action-packed, just what I look for in comic books! Here's the cover for the first one:

Well, that's all I have for today. Feel free to comment, follow, send me comic suggestions, etc. Sorry this post is so short. See you guys later!

Skeleton Key and Blackest Night: Titans

Hello, people who love comics! So on today's blog, I'm going to talk about only two comic books today (sorry, I haven't been to a comic shop lately). As you can see, I'm going to be talking about a new comic called Skeleton Key and Blackest Night: Titans. I'll start with Skeleton Key first.

So, while my mom and I where last at one of our local comic shops, my mom found this one comic called Skeleton Key. She thought look really cute (and it is) and picked it up. Skeleton Key is basically about these two kids and their pet raccoon who have this skeleton key that can open up different dimensions and they are all trying to find their way home. I think that this comic is simply adorable. Here are some of the covers:

Okay, now for Blackest Night. I love the full story with Hal Jordan being one of the main heroes and he's having all of the Lantern Corps join forces and fight against the Black Lanterns. But unfortunately, I'm not going to talk about that version today. Instead, I'm going to talk about what the Titans did during this event. The only two reasons I got this comic was because:
1. It's freaking Blackest Night
2. I heard that Terra was going to be in it.
I thought that this comic was really interesting mainly because it shows all of the Titans dead friends and enemies fighting them with much more power than they used to have. I only have the first two issues, but now I HAVE to read more. It's such a great story and for all of you zombie-loving-superhero fans out there,  you would love reading this comic.

Well, that's all I have for today. Sorry I'm posting this up so late, I was insanely busy today. Please comment, follow my blog, and send me comic suggestions. See you all later!

The Killing Joke, Suicide Squad, and Supergirl

Hello, everyone! So, as you can see, today I'm going to be talking about Supergirl, The Killing Joke, and Suicide Squad. I've just recently read all of these and so far, the one I've been most disappointed in has been Supergirl, which I'm going to talk about right now.

So, in this comic, DC has rebooted Kara completely. Now, I know what you're thinking. You're probably thinking, "Well, this comic has been out since last year. Why is she just now reading this?" Well, to answer your question, I really needed some more comics to buy and that was the first one that I saw. Anyways, back to the review. This comic really confused me on the first issue because it shows Kara coming out of her rocket and wearing her New 52 Supergirl outfit (It also shows Superman wearing his new costume, too), but she thinks that her parents are still alive. I thought that Kypton was just about to explode when her parents loaded her in the rocket to Earth. Did she hit her head or something? How can she not remember that? If you've read the series, please help me out here! Oh, and here's the cover:

Okay, now for Suicide Squad. I guess that I was kind of wrong on the new Harley Quinn (see DC Comics Reboot. UGH!!!). Apparently, she's still the same fun-loving, wacky, and insane Harley as before, but without Joker, and she has a skanky outfit. I really enjoyed this comic and now I know that I shouldn't judge a book, or comic, by its cover. Speaking of covers, here's the Suicide Squad's:

Another comic that I've just recently read was The Killing Joke, which I LOVED! So, for those of you who haven't read this Batman classic, it's basically explaining how Joker became the Joker and how Babs got in her wheelchair. I thought that it was really neat, but there where some parts that I also thought were pretty disturbing. This is officially one of my new favorite comics of all time. R.I.P. Joker. Here's the cover of The Killing Joke:

Well, that's all I have for today. Please, please, PLEASE comment, subscribe, follow, and/or send me comic suggestions. Got to go now. Have a great week!

The Runaways, Batgirl featuring Squire, and Lady's Comic Night

Hello, everyone. Sorry I couldn't post this up over the weekend, I was barely home. As you can see, I'm going to talk about two comic books and Lady's Night at one of my local comic shops.

So first I'm going to talk about Lady's Night. Basically, one of my local comic shops wanted to have a comic book night for girls, where you could get great discounts on comic books/graphic novels. It was a TON of fun! They had a contests, popcorn, and door-prizes. I won the picture with the Hulk contest (though, then again, I was the only one who entered) and my mom got the high-score on Ms. Pac-Man. While I was there, I happened to find this:

Now I am a HUGE Stephanie Brown fan and I had no idea who Squire was, so naturally, I picked it up. This comic is about Sheph going on a mission assigned by Batman which takes her to Britain, where she meets Beryl Hutchinson (a.k.a. Squire). Squire gives Steph the tour of the town when suddenly a villain steals a sword that can freeze time. I thought that this comic was very interesting and it let me know a little bit more about Knight and Squire.

Another comic book that I got (well, more like the first few issues of the comic mashed into a graphic novel) was The Runaways. I just got it and I'm already wanting to read more. This comic is about a group of kids who runaway from their parents who are in a secret villains society called the Pride. My favorite character so far is an eleven-year-old named Molly who is absolutely adorable! She is trying so hard to be mature around the group (who are all teens) but she is also still trying to be a kid at the same time. This is definitely a must read for those of you who love reading about kids with super-powers.

Well, that's all I have for today. Please feel free to comment, follow, and send me suggestions about comics. Bye for now!

It's Free Comic Book Day!!!!

Happy Free Comic Book Day, everyone! I hope you all got totally awesome comics today. So today, I'm going to talk about that mystery woman again (see Batwoman, Animal Man, and a Mystery Woman?), Mouse Guard, and the new Avengers movie.

So, while my dad and I where at one of the comic shops close to use, my dad spotted this:

Now the first thing I noticed was the hooded woman holding the gun and I immediately thought, "Hey, that looks like the woman in all of the New 52 first issues." So I start reading it and I find out that it is the same woman! The best part is that the ENTIRE first half of the comic is all about her! Apparently, her name is Pandora and she is being punished by this group of wizards because she opened a box. Sound familiar? I honestly can't wait to find out more about Pandora and what she is going to do in the future.

Another comic that I got was Mouse Guard. Until I saw this on the "Free Comics" table, I've never seen a Free Comic Book Day comic as a hard back. Here's what the cover looks like:

This comic has six separate stories in it. Though, the main one I was interested in was Labyrinth. It's still the same characters as in the movie (you know, the one with David Bowie in it?). Anyways, it's about a little worm helping Hoggle find a friend, so he tells Hoggle to go down to Goblin City to tell the giant metal guard something (I'm not going to say what, though. You'll have to read it.).

And finally to top off Free Comic Book Day, my dad and I went to go see this:

I just have two words to describe this movie:  FREAKING AWESOME!!!! I am a big Joss Whedon fan. I have seen almost every episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and he did one heck of a job directing this movie. The actors were well picked, they finally got a decent Bruce Banner, the movie was hilarious, and it was action-packed. I think that this movie is defiantly a must-see. If you do go see it, make sure you keep watching it until AFTER the credits. Lets just say that they give you an idea about the next Avengers movie.

Well, that's all the blogging that I'm going to do today. Please feel free to comment, subscribe, and send me suggestions about comics. I'll try my best to keep you guys updated every week!

Deadpool Corps, Teen Titans Go!, Avengers vs. X-Men, and a Little Starfire Fan Art

Hello, readers of this blog! As you can see from the title, I'm going to talk some more about Deadpool, the Teen Titans Go comic book, and the new Avengers vs. X-Men comic. First, I'll start with Avengers vs. X-Men.

Okay, so some of you may have seen the previews for this comic in some other Marvel comics. This series has just come out and has been one of the major talks of Marvel. Why is this comic so famous, you ask? Well, this has one really old character that you haven't seen in a long time. For those of you who haven't read it, I'm sorry, but I don't want to spoil this comic for you. Here's a sneak peak:

Now for those Teen Titans Go comics that I was talking about. I practically grew up on this show and now I've just recently gotten the comics. This series is great for children of all ages. This series has the same characters as the TV show, so this is defiantly a kid-friendly series. No worrying about skanky characters (cough, Red Hood and the Outlaws, cough, cough) or cussing. So far, I love this series and I can't wait to read more of it. Hey, I can still be a kid on the inside, right? Here are some covers of Teen Titans Go.

Now, as many of you know, I love Deadpool. He is so far, my favorite character of all time. I've just recently started reading one of his series that is about him starting a corps with different versions of himself from other universes. They are:
~Deadpool (of course)
~Lady Deadpool
~Kidpool
~Dogpool
~Headpool

And together they form,
The Deadpool Corps

Oh, and I almost forgot. You all know how much I don't like the new Starfire reboot, right? (If not, see "DC Comics Reboot, UGH!!!") Well on my free time, I thought to myself, "Hmm...I should draw a picture on my laptop to describe this new and skanky Starfire." So I grabbed my computer and started doodling. So, here's the picture I drew of Starfire:

Well, I hope you all enjoyed today's blog! Please feel free to comment, send me fan art, or give me suggestions on comics to read! See you guys soon!

Batwoman, Animal Man, and a Mystery Woman?

Hello, everyone who is reading this blog post. Now in this blog, I'm going to be talking about two comic books that I've been reading that are part of the DC reboot (see: DC Comics Reboot. UGH!!!). These comics are so far, the best ones since DC's reboot. Today, I'm going to talk to you about Batwoman and Animal Man.

I'll talk about Batwoman first. This comic is about a woman named Katherine who when she was younger, a psychopath killed her mother and made her twin sister disappear. When she got older, Katherine went into the military but is later expelled due to "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." Katherine later became Batwoman and found out that her sister was alive, but became a criminal named Alice. Batwoman found Alice holding their father hostage and Alice later accidentally fell off the plane and drowned in Gotham Harbor. Katherine continues to be Batwoman and is currently trying to save children who have been abducted by a organization called "Medusa." One of my favorite things about this comic is the artwork. Here's what Batwoman looks like:

Now for Animal Man. This comic is about a man named Buddy who has the ability to take the adaptations of an animal, like the bark a dog, punching with the strength of an elephant, flying like a bird, etc. Buddy finds out that his daughter, Maxine, is the avatar for this place called "The Red," and he has to protect her from these hunters who want her to become evil (did I mention that Maxine is only four years old?). This is an awesome, yet very weird, comic. Here are some pictures to show you how weird this comic is.

This is one heck of a comic and it one of my new favorite comic series from DC.

Speaking of DC, ever since the new reboot I've been noticing this really mysterious woman who is in the first issue of every New 52 issue. Don't believe me? Look at these pictures (I've circled her in red):
~Animal Man #1
~Catwoman #1 (Why she's in a strip club, I have no idea)
~Red Hood and The Outlaws #1 (gags)
~Batwoman #1
~Wonder Woman #1
~Teen Titans #1 (I didn't really need to circle her in that one)
~Justice League #1

Comic book stalker much? So, it looks like this girl is the new "Where's Waldo." Well, that's all for now folks. Please feel free to give me comic book selections and I'll try my best to try and read them. See ya'.
